Player of the Week: Jenna Sebek. Salado High

Her team may not have won the match, but Jenna Sebek won at the ballot box.

Helping lead the Lady Eagles (11-5) to a second-place finish at last weekend's Gatesville Volleyball Tournament, where the host Hornets edged Salado 23-25, 25-20, 25-23 in the championship game, the senior middle blocker won the season's first KDHpressbox Player of the Week poll.

"I was kind of shocked and excited too," Sebek said of her reaction to winning.

Reeling in 661 of the 1,141 total votes (58 percent) — including more than 600 during the final two days of voting — Sebek edged Hornets junior Glynna Johnson's 454 votes (40 percent) for the award.
