At Venus, the Hornets used a freak play to take an early lead. Franco Vega kicked a shot off the the post and Anthony Chicon was there to tap it in.
Abate Hennessy scored twice in the second half, both goals were unassisted. Gatesville improved its record to 4-3-1 and faces Lampasas in its District 34-4A opener next Tuesday.
