Class: Senior
Claim to Fame: Jett is one of three seniors and one of the leading scorers for the Buffaloes, including a season high 23 against Lago Vista on Jan. 6.
What does your team need to get back on track?
“We need to make shots and have better intensity on offense and defense. We started the season making our jumpers and lately haven’t made anything.
Why do you think that’s happening?
“We are rushing and forcing our shots. We have to get back to having fun.”
What are your plans after graduation?
I just got accepted to Angelo State (on Wednesday). I am going to major in aerospace studies. I haven’t talked to the basketball coach, yet, but I plan on sending him some film.
“Hopefully basketball is in my future, but if it’s not, I’m not going to be bummed about it because I have other plans.”
So aerospace then?
“Yes, I am going into the Air Force and I’d like to be a fighter pilot.
How long have you wanted to do that?
“A long time. My grandfather (Charles Edward Jett) was in the Air Force and I am going to follow him.”
It’s kind of the hot thing to be the third now. Any chances for a nickname like CJIII?
“I never even thought of that. My number is three too, though.”
How did you get interested in the Air Force?
“Ever since I was little it has always been a dream — that and all the other little kid dreams.
“When I was little I went to visit my grandparents on my mom’s side and they took me to see a F-22 by one of the stores and I got to wear the helmet and sit in the cockpit. It was pretty awesome.”
What is something no one knows about you?
“I’ve cut my head open four times. Two of them are my sister’s fault, actually.
“The first time I was sitting in the car and I had the seat belt around my knees and my sister pushed me forward and I hit the front seat.
“The second time, I was 7 and after my aunt’s wedding all the nieces and nephews went to a hotel room and were jumping on the beds. I feel off the bed and hit the other bed frame.
“The third time, my sister and I ... jumped off the trampoline and she pushed me over and I hit a concrete tab.
“Number four was in the first game this season against Bruceville-Eddy. I crossed over and hit heads with a kid. I thought he had tried to bite me.”
