From staff reports
The awards just keep coming for Grace Weaver, Amy Rosenbaum and Madison Morris.
The three already earned superlative honors in their respective districts, not to mention taking three of the seven spots on the Killeen Daily Herald's All-Area volleyball first team.
Now, each can add "all-state" member to her résumé.
Led by Weaver's first-team selection at middle blocker/outside hitter, the three were voted onto the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State teams released over the weekend.
Rosenbaum was a 5A third-team selection at setter, and Morris was picked as a 3A third-team middle blocker/outside hitter.
Weaver, who signed with Tulane last month, led Belton to a runner-up finish in District 12-5A and second-round playoff appearance after starting the season 0-6. She finished her senior season with 526 kills, 443 digs and 41 aces.
In addition to the all-state honor, Weaver was named the 12-5A Most Valuable Player — she shared the award last year — and the Daily Herald's MVP.
Rosenbaum was again a top-notch setter for Copperas Cove, as she was named 12-5A's most valuable setter and finished the year with 634 assists. But the future Baylor Bear did much more than setting up her teammates.
She was Cove's tallest player, spending a good part of the year blocking shot attempts — Rosenbaum had 167 for the year — and putting down one of the 258 kills she had on the year.
Morris, who was named the 25-3A Offensive MVP, led Lampasas to the playoffs after just missing the postseason a year ago. The UTEP signee did it all for the Lady Badgers, leading the team in kills (373) and total blocks (79), while finishing second in assists and third in aces.
