Despite the end result — Saturday's 52-28 loss to Longview in Dallas — the Belton Tigers can't be too disappointed at how their season went.
Belton went into the year with high expectations after coming of a 10-2 season and second-round playoff appearance in 2009. The Tiger offense also returned highly touted quarterback David Ash, who committed to the Texas Longhorns in February.
But many key components to Belton's 2009 defense were gone, and it showed early and often. The Tigers dropped their first four games, giving up at least 36 points in each game and at least 60 twice.
And despite rallying to make the playoffs, Belton finished the regular season with District 12-5A's second-worst defense.
Still, Belton did win five games in a row at one point and made the playoffs for the second time under head coach Rodney Southern.
